About Me

Abdikarem Maruf is a Somali citizen working as the Chief Communication Officer at iRisehub , the leading innovation hub in Somalia. My primary responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day activities and programs to advance iRisehub's mission of becoming the premier hub for new ideas and advanced technology solutions that can accelerate Somalia's development. Additionally, I serve as the team leader of the SOM Irrigation Robot project, an innovative irrigation solution tailored for agricultural communities in water-scarce regions, primarily focusing on Somalia. I also hold the program manager position at Minbar Initiative , where I ensure smooth operations for the organization's core programs.

Last year, I led iRise Hub to receive the Best Innovation Hub award at the Arab SMEs Summit 2023. This recognition was a result of the project I presented at the summit, the SOM Irrigation robot, in the Arab summit's AI challenge. This achievement underscores my commitment to innovation and leadership. I have authored articles and analyses on public policy issues, including innovation, climate change, education, and Somalia's 4.5 system, earning recognition locally. My academic background includes a Law degree and a diploma in Business & Entrepreneurship from City University and Simad University. I am a member of the UN MENA Youth Advisory Group, using my expertise and passion to shape impactful initiatives. With a strong background in volunteering for various UN activities, including youth engagement events, innovation awareness, climate action, and youth empowerment, among others, demonstrating my commitment to global progress and innovation. I am a graduate of the US State Department's Young African Leaders Initiative fellowship, which showcases my entrepreneurial mindset, leadership abilities, and visionary qualities.
